COP SECRET by Hannes Thór Halldórsson selected for the main competition in Locarno
Hannes Thór Halldórsson‘s debut feature, Cop Secret, has been selected for the Concorso Internazionale, or the main competitive section, at the Locarno Film Festival, which will take place in Switzerland August 4–14. This will be the film‘s world premiere and it will compete for the Pardo d'Oro (or Golden Leopard), given each year for the best film in the competition.
Cop Secret follows a tough supercop who is fighting a inner struggle at the same time as he is investigating a string of bank robberies where nothing seems to have been stolen.
“To premiere the film at a prestigious festival like Locarno is a special honor for all of us connected to the film. There have been so few festivals because of COVID, and an unusually high number of films trying to get into festivals, so it's a great honor just to be chosen,” says Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir of Pegasus Pictures, the producer of the film.
“It's been both a very challenging and very fun process with a great group of people. I'm still realizing that the film has been chosen for the festival and I look forward to showing it there. I'm even more excited to show it here in Iceland at the end of August,” says director Hannes Thór Halldórsson.
Cop Secret was written by Nína Petersen, Sverrir Thór Sverrison, and Halldórsson. The film was produced by Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir for Pegasus Pictures and stars Audunn Blöndal, Egill Einarsson, Steinunn Ólína Thorsteinsdóttir, Vivian Ólafsdóttir, Sverrir Thór Sverrisson, and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson.
